Classically Comfortable

This home originally featured a layout with smaller, more defined spaces.  An addition enabled the family to open up the floor plan and create a large kitchen/eating area that could function as a central hub for a young family of four.

The homeowner requested a large island, which serves multiple purposes in the space: cooking prep, clean up area with sink and dishwasher, buffet serving, and a seating area for homework or other projects.  Wide paneled columns anchor the four corners of the island, and shallow cabinets on the island back offer additional storage.

A small bar area was placed adjacent to the dining room, fully equipped with ice maker, wine cooler, and bar sink, which can also double as a prep sink.  Mirrored panels reflect light and conceal cabinet contents while still displaying the elegant curved mullions.

Several curved elements, including the curved mullions, several hood elements, and the orb pendants, soften the design.  Silver-toned elements, including the polished nickel orb pendants, silver glazed hood finish, and a pair of silver-metallic dining chairs combine with the stainless appliances to lend a touch of glamour.

The refrigerator and freezer frame each end of the range elevation, creating plenty of cold storage as well as a balanced elevation. Above the freezer, a wall cabinet for tray dividers is conveniently near the range.  Above the refrigerator, a television is concealed behind pocket doors for convenient viewing from the island seating area.

This classic-inspired kitchen makes functional beautiful with modern amenities and thoughtful design, and will serve the family well for many years to come.
